Hauppauge Woman Arrested For Stealing Puppy From Dix Hill Pet Store

Suffolk County Police have arrested a woman who stole a puppy from a Dix Hills pet store last month.

Krista KazanFollowing the release of a surveillance photo on February 22 by the Suffolk County Crime Stoppers Bureau, Krista Kazan was identified as the woman who removed a Pug puppy from a puppy play area at Yippity Yap, located at 1802 East Route 25, and hid the dog as she left the store on February 17 at approximately 1 p.m. The dog, which has a value of $1800, was returned to the store by a family member the day after the surveillance photos were released.

Second Squad detectives arrested Kazan, 43, of Hauppauge, at her home on March 16 and charged with Grand Larceny 4th Degree, a Class E Felony.

Kazan was arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on March 17.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
