Whelan, Lillian, nee Ciffone, passed away June 28, 2011 in Encinitas, CA; former long time resident of Smithtown.  Born August 5, 1922 in New York. Beloved wife of the late Thomas; Loving mother of Laura (John) Jensen, Patricia (Phil) Denniston, Diane and Joey.  Cherished gradmother of Emily (Todd) Powell, Luke Jensen; Daphne, Philip (Ashley), Tom (Sue), Carrie Denniston; Annie (fiance Sean Novak), Jordan, Trevor Kezon.  Dear great-grandmother of Lucy and Gwynn Powell; Mia and Ryder Denniston.  Devoted daughter of the late Joseph and Lucy Ciffone.  Fond sister of Dorothy Sohn and Jean Quinn and loved aunt to their children.

Lily was an active member of St. Patrick’s Church in Smithtown as a lector and member of the Catholic Daughters.  She continued her role as lector in her parishes in Corpus Christi, TX and Encinitas until her death.

Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s R.C Church, Smithtown, NY.  Interment followed at Calverton National Cemetery
