HANSEN, Edward, born June 17, 1937, passed away peacefully at home with family and loved ones on April 13, 2014. Loving husband of Margaret (nee McCann) for 53 years. Cherished father of Margy (Ike), Eddie (Tiffany), Liz (Joe), Ellen (Dan), Mary (John), Clare (Lenny), John (Leslie), Catherine (George), Joseph (Sarah), and Christine (Evan). Adoring grandfather of 24. Born in the Bronx and raised in Brooklyn, brother of the late Sister Mary Edna. Graduated St. Francis Prep in 1955. Proud US Navy Veteran from 1955-1959, stationed in Jacksonville, FL. 44 year resident of Smithtown. Ed worked for the Long Island Railroad for 33 years as a Conductor/Trainman. He was an Ex-Captain of the Smithtown Fire Department Engine Co. #5. He served the department for 30 years. They moved to Vero, FL and resided there the past 12 years. He enjoyed coaching baseball at CRAC and Smithtown YMCA, SFD softball, and he was a private pilot and a piano virtuoso. Visitation Fives Smithtown Funeral Home, 31 Landing Ave. Smithtown.
