MARSDEN - Patrick J. “Pat” of Smithtown, NY and Ormond Beach, FL, beloved husband of Helena M. Marsden (nee Feehan) for 54 years, passed away on December 29, 2018. He was the loving father of John (Margaret) of Midway, KY, Alexandra Hickey (Jack) of Rye, NY, and Robert (Kathy) of Fairfield, CT; and cherished grandfather to Ryan, Liam, Matthew, Kieran, Will, Lauren, and Patrick. He is survived by brothers Hugh (Anna) of Australia; Jimmy (Kay), Noel (Helen), and Aidan of Ireland; sisters Margaret and Finola (Bernard) of France, and Maeve (Tommy) and Joan (Ollie) of Ireland. 

Pat was born in Ireland on July 29, 1935 to the late James P. Marsden and Gertrude M. Marsden (nee Kelly) and grew up in Longford. He immigrated to New York City in 1957. 

Pat played Gaelic football in Longford and at Gaelic Park in the Bronx, NY. He served his country as an officer in the United States Army in Korea between 1958 and 1960. He was later drafted during the Berlin Crisis, served statewide, and was honorably discharged in 1964. Pat was employed in management by United Parcel Service for 31 years and retired in 1991. Known for his unwavering loyalty, he was committed to his family, friends, and the United Parcel Service. During his many years of retirement, his interests included golf, reading, business investments, watching the Mets, and, most of all, annual vacations with his beloved family. 

Visits with his children, grandchildren, and friends were always a great source of joy for him. A Funeral Mass was held at Parish of the Holy Cross, Nesconset, NY. Followed with Military Honors.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements entrusted to the professional care of Branch Funeral Home of Smithtown and Vigliante family.
