Obituary - Charles Schlesinger


Schlesinger, Charles 87 of Ridge passed on September 26, 2019. They Shall Not Be Forgotten. Proud Veteran United States Army Korean War.  He was the beloved husband of Irene. Cherished father of David (Sandy), Chuckie (Bonnie), Margaret Schlesinger, Michael (Tatiana), Matthew (Toni), Stepfather of Michael (Donna) Verdonck, Nancy (Bill) Verdonck, and Maria (John) Marrow. Loving Grandfather of ten and Great Grandfather of two. Dear brother of Juggis (Liz) Schesinger and Tessie Costa. He is survived by many other family members and friends. Religious Service was celebrated at the cemetery. Interment followed at Pinelawn Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors. Arrangements entrusted to the professional care of Hawkins & Davis Funeral Home of Smithtown. Online guest book at www.hawkinsanddavisfh.com

Obituary - Philip A. Mantia M.D.

Philip A. Mantia, M.D. passed peacefully to his reward on Sunday, September 29, 2019 in Smithtown at the age of 80.

Born in Brooklyn, Dr. Mantia earned his medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical School, coming to Smithtown in 1968 beginning his 51 year Gastroenterology practice associated with Smithtown General and St. John’s Episcopal Hospitals. He welcomed his nephew, Augustus G. Mantia, M.D. to the practice in 1978 in which they both continued to treat  patients who became friends.  Dr. Phil, as he was affectionately known, joined the Mount Sinai Doctors in 1999 where he continued to practice until his recent hospitalization.

Dr. Phil is survived by his loving Wife, Pat, his Nephew & medical partner, Dr. Gus Mantia & his Niece, Rosemary Casey. In addition, he is survived by his beloved Stepchildren, cherished Grand Nephews, Grand Nieces, Great Grand Nephews, Great Grand Nieces along with numerous devoted patients, friends & colleagues.

Dr. Phil’s Family will welcome & receive visitors to the Saint James Funeral Home, 829 Middle Country Road, Route 25, Saint James on Wednesday, October 2nd, 2019 from 7-9 P.M. Thursday, October 3rd, 2019 from 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. 

Dr. Mantia’s Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday, October 4th, 2019 at 11 A.M. at Saints Philip & James RC Church, Clinton Avenue, Saint James with his interment following in his Family Plot at Saint James Episcopal Cemetery, North Country Road, Saint James.
