John Patrick Cannone’s funeral arrangements were professionally supervised while the Cannone’s Families were lovingly cared for during their bereavement by Kenneth, Kerry and Ken Jr., the Maher Family of the St. James Funeral Home, in St. James.
Marjorie J. Potter of Lincoln, MA, formerly of Westport, CT died peacefully on August 4, 2014 at the age of 89 after a long battle with cancer.
She was born in the Bronx, NY, and received a mathematics degree from Swarthmore College. She and her husband Edwin raised their four children in St. James, NY and then in Westport, Ct where they lived for 40 years. Marj was an active member of both the First Presbyterian Church of Smithtown, NY and Saugatuck Congregational Church of Westport.
She was known for her selfless service to her community and church, her stand on issues of social justice, and her presence along with her husband in the English, Contra, Scottish, Folk, and Square Dance communities as a teacher and participant.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Edwin F. Potter Jr., and their children Donald Potter, Susan Spencer, Kathryn Potter, Judith Greer, 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Greens Farm Congregational Church (71 Hillandale Rd., Westport, CT) on Saturday, October 4th at 1:00pm.
