Smithtown High School West’s Tri-M Music Honor Society gains national recognition

Front row, from left, Nicholas Stallone, Rose Link, Alia Romanelli, Jia Macalinao, Director of Fine Arts Victoria Hartman and Principal William Holl.Smithtown High School West Tri-M Music Honor Society chapter #1338 has been recognized as a 2023-2024 National Tri-M Chapter of the Year Scholarship Award winner. Out of 2,100 eligible chapters, Smithtown High School West Tri-M was the second runnerup and one of the top three Tri-M chapters in the country. As a result of this award, the chapter will receive a $600 scholarship to fund a musically enriching program for the students of Tri-M. 

“To be recognized as a National Tri-M Chapter of Year is an incredible honor bestowed upon us by the National Association for Music Education,” said Orchestra Director, Joseph Cotignola. “I could not be prouder that the students of Smithtown High School West Tri-M will be recognized on the National level for this amazing achievement.”
