Obituary - Heinz (Harry) R. Nadler
Heinz Nadler entered eternal life on August 28, 2012 after courageously battling pancreatic cancer. He was 78 years young. He died with his loving wife Evelyn of 51 years by his side. Born in Zug, Switzerland.
At age 14, he left home and started training in Zurich, Switzerland as a pastry chef and was later drafted into the Swiss army. In 1955, Heinz immigrated to the United States. In 1958, he was drafted in the Army stationed in Germany where he was a cook, on the US National Ski Patrol and soccer team. He worked as a talented pastry chef in a bakery in Kings Park, where he had the good fortune to meet a salesgirl named Evelyn, who eventually became his wife.
In 1962, he made a career change and joined Met Life Insurance Co. starting as a sales representative that led to other successful managerial positions and awards. In 1981, he was the President of the Suffolk County Association of Financial Professionals.
In 1987, he moved to Smithtown and started his own business as a Financial Planner caring deeply about his clients’ needs and futures.
Harry cherished his marriage, children, friends and family. He was an avid sports fan and enjoying traveling and gardening.
He believed strongly in serving his community and was a prominent member of the Smithtown Rotary Club for over 30 years and recently served as President.
Harry was devoted to his faith and was active in Teams of Our Lady and the “Marriage Alive” Program at St. Patrick’s Church.
Harry was a beloved husband of Evelyn Nadler, devoted father of Andrea (Richard) Restifo of Smithtown, N.Y., Rachelle (Patrick) Kehoe of Niskayuna, N.Y.,
John (Jennifer) Nadler of DeWitt, N.Y., and seven grandchildren that he adored. Sister Magda (Rudolph) Bossard of Commack, N.Y.,
brothers Hans (Minerva) of San Antonio, TX, Rainer (Elizabeth) of Walchwil, Switzerland, feel the loss of this gentle, caring, giving man, who loved life.
He is also survived by many other family members and friends
Funeral Mass or Religious Service was celebrated at St. Patrick’s R. C. Church, Smithtown, NY
Interment followed at Calverton National Cemetery
