Obituary - Mary Ellen Barry

BARRY— Mary Ellen, Age 82, of Kings Park, passed away at home surrounded by the love of her family on December 29, 2013. She was born on August 11, 1931 to Rose and Joseph Kopp in Kansas City, MO. Predeceased by her first husband, Dean Thomas Bowen in 1960. Beloved wife of the late James C. Barry for 48  years. Loving mother of Lisa (Charles) O’Brien, Cheryl Goldsmith (Steve Simmons), Richard (Amy) Barry, Maggie (Joseph) Maggio. Cherished grandmother of Amy, Katelyn, Timothy, Jaime, Brennan, and Meghan. Sister of Joseph E. Kopp and the late Stephen Kopp. Worked as a secretary to the President of WDAF-TV in Kansas City, as a stewardess for TWA until 1958, and as a paralegal for James Calamis Esq. Mary Ellen devoted her life to raising her 4 children and spending time with all of her wonderful grandchildren. She enjoyed her last years traveling the world with her husband. She is survived by many other family members and friends. 

Funeral Mass was celebrated at Christ the King R.C. Church, Commack, NY. Interment followed at Long Island National Cemetery. The family requests donations made to: Good Shepherd Hospice  In Memory of  Mary Ellen Barry - 245 Old Country Rd., Melville, New York 11747
