Obituary - Reginald P. ( Reggie) Tewarson

TEWARSON - Reginald Prabhakar, 83, of Stony Brook, NY. Born 1930 in Pauri, India, eldest of seven children of Seth and Chand Tewarson.

Deeply mourned by wife Ghenwah, daughters Monique and Anita, grandchildren Katja Martine and Stefan, brothers Archibald and Naresh, sister Laxmi, as well as many friends and colleagues whose lives he touched. An extraordinarily warm, engaged, and loving person, with an endless sense of humor and unique perspective on life that drew people to him.

Coming to the United States in 1957 as a Crusade Scholar, to earn his Ph.D in Mathematics at Boston University, he had a distinguished career from 1964-2000 at SUNY Stony Brook and was named Leading Professor in both Applied Math and Statistics and Physiology and Biophysics.

Major achievements include pioneering research in sparse matrices, and modeling of the human kidney sponsored by the National Institute of Health.

He will always be in our hearts.

AMORE—Maria, 85, of Quogue, NY, passed on June 21, 2014. Beloved  wife of the late Andrew. Cherished mother of  Kathleen (Joseph) Ventre, Michael (Roseann) and Dennis. Adored grandmother of six and great-grandmother of one.

Obituary - James P. Laughlin

LOUGHLIN - James P. of Nesconset, NY, formerly of Central Islip on June 21, 2014 at the age of 82. They Shall Not Be Forgotten.  Proud Korean War Veteran.  United States Air Force. He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Mabel and three adoring daughters, Laurie (Bill) Sweeney, Deirdre (Kevin) Mos, and Patricia (Tom) Dunning . He was the loving grandfather of Kaitlin (Shawn), Erin and Billy Sweeney, Lauren and Alexandra Mos, and Rachael Dunning and the great-grandfather of Riley. Cherished brother of Mary, John, Michael (Bernadette), Richard (Susie), Christina (Lou), Marty (Cookie), Jane, Peter (Paula), Vincent and William (Cecelia). He was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. There was nothing in life more important to him than his family. Jim loved golf and was a long time member of Smithtown Landing Men’s Golf Association. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

A funeral mass was celebrated  at St. Patrick Church in Smithtown. Interment followed at Washington Memorial Park in Mt. Sinai. Donations may be made in Jim’s name to The First Tee of Metropolitan New York, 3545 Jerome Avenue, Bronx, NY 10467.
