Obituary - Joseph J. Johnston Sr.

Johnston — Joseph J. Sr., Age 93.  On October 30, 2012 after a short illness. Devoted husband of the late Emily (nee Christensen). Father of Joseph Jr., Judith Hardman (Joseph), and Patricia Thomas. Grandfather of Sarah Ray (Steve), Joanna Hardman (Henry Falconer), and Julia Hardman. In addition to his beloved wife, predeceased by his parents Robert and Catherine and three siblings, Robert Jr., Christine Cronin, and Catherine. 

U.S. Army Veteran of WW II, life member in the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. 

Family wishes to thank Vincent Gerardi for being such a good friend to our father. Services will be private.

Obituary - John J. Wood

John J. Wood, of St. James, passed away November 9, 2012 at the age of 88.  Beloved husband of the late Frances.  Loving father of Brian Wood, and his wife Nancy, and Kathleen Wood, and her husband Tom Glanz.  Cherished grandfather of Emily, Keith, and Murphy.  Devoted great-grandfather of Blare and Tessah.

John was a pilot for the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II.  John also worked for Grumman Aerospace for over 39 years before retiring.  He was an avid hobbyist.  He enjoyed oil painting, watch making, and model building. 

Memorial Visitation will be held Friday November 16th from 1:30-2:30 PM at Fives Smithtown Funeral Home, 31 Landing Ave., Smithtown, NY 11787.  Religious Service at 2:30 PM.  Burial to follow at St. James Episcopal Cemetery.  http://www.fivesfuneralhome.com/

Obituary - Paul LoMonaco

Paul LoMonaco; former owner of Park Garden Center in Kings Park on 25A Main Street, a man with the gift of gab; and always a good word to say to the ‘young ladies’ (senior ladies, but that’s what he called them). 

Paul passed away of dreadful cancer on Wednesday, November 8th, 2012 at the age of 68. He was a long time resident of Kings Park/San Remo. Paul leaves behind the love of his life JoAnn Barbera LoMonaco, their wonderful and devoted son, father of two little girls, Victor LoMonaco; Victor’s loving wife, Cassandra: who is expecting their third child;a son Paul; whom Paul (Sr.) looked forward to meeting. A sister Nina, brothers, Augie, John and Larry, and many other family and friends who loved this good man dearly and will sorely miss him and his ways until we die.

Paul’s viewing is at Clayton’s Funeral Home on Indian Head Road in Kings Park on Monday, November 12th between 2pm and 4:30 and again at 7 - 9pm.

A small service at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday will be held for Paul at Clayton’s and then he is to be buried; with full military honors for his service as a National Guardsman, at Calverton National Cemetery at; 210 Princeton Boulevard Calverton, NY 11933 (631) 727-5410.
